Every child belongs in a family.
THE PROBLEM
In Maryland, more than 4,000 babies, children and youth are in foster care.
At the same time, Maryland is home to over 5,000 churches.
Every day, these children wait for a permanent home.
The church wants to help, but often isn’t sure how.
OUR RESPONSE
Project Belong inspires, recruits, and resources the local church
to care for vulnerable children with the love of Christ.
-
4,000 babies, children and youth are currenly navigating the Maryland foster care system.
Children are designed to thrive within the safety of a family. Love, connection and a sense of belonging are central to their core development.
In times of crisis, however, these innocent victims are denied the very security and affirmation required for a child’s heart to grow. The long-term effects are devastating, creating deep vulnerabilities. The statistics are stark: a high percentage of trafficking survivors, incarcerated individuals, and people without a high school diploma spent time in foster care.

God sets the lonely in families through His local church. Religion that is pure and unblemished is that which care for widows and orphans in their distress- James 1:27
The Church is uniquely positioned to provide more than enough: Homes and families, Practical support, Community, Love and belonging, Light in the Darkness
-
There are over 5,000 churches in Maryland.
Our goal is to encourage and equip churches to actively seek to serve foster, adoptive, kinship and at-risk families.
